Why Do We Lie?

Why do we lie?


Is it to protect ourselves?


Is it just a habit?


Or is it just human nature?


Its all of these things. But it is also because we are afraid of the truth, because if we except reality, the truth might just shock us into a state of mind that we can’t escape. 


So we lie because sometimes we aren’t strong enough to face reality. Or sometimes it is because we find comfort in our little bubble of bliss built up by these lies. 


The truth scares us because it is so real and confronting, and it smacks us in the face when we least expect it, leaving us with another black eye and a million things to reconsider. 


At some point in our lives though we have to face reality and wake up to our denial. We have to look around and tell ourselves what we least want to hear. But most importantly we have to be honest with each other, because in the end that all we’ve got.
